Steel erection was to begin earlier, with concrete footings and grade beams al- ready completed, according to the region's senior project manager, Kimberly Lane. JUST THE FACTS When completed, the facility will in- clude storage for up to 200 buses with 10 regular bus (41-feet) repair bays; 12 artic- ulated bus (62-feet) repair bays; three in- spection pit bays, two service lanes, two bus wash stations, one degrease bay, one tire bay and one dedicated cleaning lane, as well administration and office areas, parts storage and loading docks. The facility is intended to provide nec- essary fleet maintenance and storage to meet transit ridership goals as estab- lished in the region's transportation mas- ter plan. In anticipation of moving to- wards an electric bus fleet in the future, the design has capacity for a pilot pro- gram and the ability to phase-in expan- sion of electric buses with charging sta- tions. The project will also include a vegetat- ed green roof, water reclamation systems, LED lighting and energy recovery, as well as allowances for future solar panels, and is anticipated to achieve LEED silver cer- tification.
