Activa Homes has begun the planning process to redevelop lands located on the east side of Roy Schmidt Road, north of Conservation Drive and south of Pinery Trail, as an extension of the Conservation Meadows neighbourhood, and has applied to demolish the houses prior to draft ap- proval, which required council's consent at a recent meeting. If approved, the new community will contain a combination of single detached, townhouse, and multiple residential dwelling units, as well as parkland and new public roads. Yet due to the work re- quired for a communal stormwater man- agement strategy, the subdivision isn't likely to receive approval from the region in the immediate future, delaying the de- molition of the existing dwellings and in- creasing the potential for continual tres- passing and vandalism, a report to council notes. The two existing single detached build- ings are addressed 558 Conservation Drive and 550 Roy Schmidt Road and have been vacant for at least 10 months. The incidents in April required repairs to a patio door and several windows. Both municipal by- law enforcement and Waterloo Regional Police were involved, and other similar in- cidents have occurred in recent months. NEWS WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
