Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2020 Time: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Location: Wilfrid Laurier University - Senate Chamber 75 University Avenue West Waterloo, Ontario Background The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is undertaking a Schedule "C" Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for improvements to the University Avenue (Regional Road 57) corridor from Albert Street to Weber Street in the City of Waterloo. Improvements along University Avenue (Regional Road 57) are being considered to improve roadway and underground infrastructure, active transportation facilities and traffic operations along the corridor. The Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) has identified this section of road for the installation of an on-road bike lane. The Process The study is being conducted in accordance with the requirements of a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, which is an approved process under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act (Last Amended 2010). The Project Team will be presenting the needs and opportunities for improvements on University Avenue at this First Public Consultation Centre, as well as alternative solutions in order to seek input. This Public Consultation Centre is designed to provide interested members of the public, local businesses, community, and agencies the opportunity to meet the Project Team, get an update on the project work completed to date, and discuss project issues. Community Involvement The Region of Waterloo encourages members of the public, stakeholder groups, and agencies to actively participate in this study by attending public consultation opportunities and/or contacting staff directly with comments or questions.
