Founded by a local team of entrepreneurs in the food and tech sector, Lady Glaze Doughnuts, a brand new doughnut shop in Kitchener, is aiming for an early September open- ing. Lady Glaze Doughnuts will put a heavy focus on custom corporate orders as well as having a charita- ble foundation for sick kids in Waterloo Region. In terms of the actual doughnuts, a spokes- person with the shop says that the intention is to in- novate and experiment with different types of doughnuts. Lady Glaze Doughnuts will take over the property formerly owned by Berlin Bicycle Cafe at 701 Bel- mont Avenue West. They will also offer classic flavours such as sour cream glazed and Boston cream as well as apple fritters. Lady Glaze- Doughnuts will cater to walk-in and take-out cus- tomers as well as facilitate delivery through food cou- rier apps. Lady Glaze Doughnuts will be handmade, old- fashion fried, yeast-raised doughnuts and will con- tain no artificial colours, dyes, flavours, preserva- tives, or sweeteners. While they will hope to maintain some doughnut differentiation, one of their main goals is to to maintain a strong connec- tion with the community and take advantage of a doughnut market which isn't particularly saturat- ed. There are three people on the Lady Glaze Dough- nuts team. They will be lo- cated on 701 Belmont West, taking the space was occu- pied by Berlin Bicycle Ca- fe. Berlin Bicycle Cafe closed in April. There will be two to three pop-ups for the busi- ness in August, the spokesperson said. Lady Glaze Doughnuts has also acquired a liquor license. Friday June 7 was Na- tional Doughnut Day.
