ENDSAPRIL 1 An iconic concert poster was stolen from a Waterloo pub on St. Patrick's Day and the owner wants it back. Glenn Smith, owner of Ethel's Lounge in uptown Waterloo, said the poster was stolen Sunday dur- ing St. Patrick's Day festivities. He didn't hear about it until Monday. "It's kind of disheartening. It's only St. Patrick's Day that I get any- thing stolen in there," said Smith, adding that this isn't the first time something has been taken from his bar. The inside of Ethel's is a local pop culture museum of sorts, with original concert posters from many famous acts that graced stag- es in the region. The poster was a promo for Waterstock, a concert that featured Delaney & Ronnie & Friends, George Oliver & the Natu- ral Gas, Cowsills and Motherlode. It was secured to the wall, so the alleged thief would have had to work to remove it. "Someone took some time or a bit of pre-planning or some work to get it out," said Smith. "Either someone really wanted that poster ... or it was in the furthest, darkest part of the place." Smith is hoping that the perpe- trator woke up with a little bit of re- gret and he's offering amnesty to whoever took it. "If that's the situation and it's sit- ting on someone's couch or some- thing, just bring it back and put it on the bar. It's not going to be a situ- ation where I yell and scream at you." Smith also added that instead of bringing it in person, the perpetra- tor can put it in a cab and ask the cab driver to drop it off. ETHEL'S LOUNGE HAS ICONIC POSTER STOLEN ON ST.
