In a media release Wednesday, the gov- ernment announced that it is seeking feed- back from people who live or work in the 82 upper- and lower-tier municipalities that are currently under review, including the eight in Waterloo Region. "We promised the people of Ontario that all levels of government would work harder, smarter and more efficiently," said Steve Clark, minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, in a press release. The regional-government review is being directed by special advisers Michael Fenn and Ken Seiling, who is the former chair of the Region of Waterloo. They are expected to present their findings to the provincial gov- ernment this summer. The deadline for feedback is April 23. In a media release, the Region of Waterloo said it is "encouraged to see that (the prov- ince is) launching this next step in the pro- cess." In addition to the online portal, the re- gion is encouraging the province to make the process available for residents in-person.
