Staybridge Suites will be an extension to the Holiday Inn Express that located across from the St. Jacobs Farmers' Mar- ket, on 10 Benjamin Rd. in Waterloo. The hotel will offer large one and two bedroom suites with fully equipped kitch- ens and living rooms, as the hotel is target- ed at more "longer-term stays." Construction, which began in fall 2018, is going well according to Naushad Ismail, director with Woodlawn Hospitality Group, the developers of the hotel. But, he conceded that weather has slowed down the progress a bit. "We don't have an exact date yet," Ismail said in a phone call with the Waterloo Chronicle on Feb. 21. Ismail anticipated that the hotel will be completed this fall. The pool and fitness area of the Holiday Inn and Staybridge will be shared, while there will be separate office spaces, dining spots and check-in desks for each proper- ty. Ismail says the Staybridge will have ap- proximately 3,000 square feet of meeting space while the pool area will be expanded. Combined among the two properties will be 3,500 square feet of meeting space and 200 rooms. He added that he is eagerly anticipating the completion and opening of light rail transit in Kitchener-Waterloo as the acces- sibility to the area for customers and em- ployees will improve. Woodlawn Hospitality Group opened up the Holiday Inn Express in 2013. WHAT'S ON WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?
