CIBC could use data to antici- pate issues their customers might have and alert them through the app. "What can CIBC do to alert you that your cash flow is tell- ing us your mortgage might be missed?" asked Ribau. "Can we alert you through your device? Can we be more proactive? If our data mining tells us there's a potential risk to you as a cus- tomer, can we deliver to you a recommended action?" CIBC hopes to answer these questions through data. The Waterloo hub will also be home to Canada's Open Data Exchange, a federal gov- ernment initiative that helps companies use data for com- mercial purposes. Tuer said the ripple effects Kitchener has seen from the first hub will be mirrored in Waterloo. "I've watched the hub in Kitchener from the very early stages, seeing it from the dere- lict building that it was to what it is today," Tuer said. "More condos are going up, more space is being turned into offices for companies, more programs are coming online and new initiatives are landing here."
