The win means the highest the Orangeville a's can finish is a tie for third. The first tiebreaker is the head-to-head record, which is 4-4. after that, it's points for and against, in which the Titans have the advantage, 815-804. But most importantly, securing third place means the Titans won't face the london light- ning -- who tied their own league record with their 33rd win on sunday -- in the first round. The Titans will have a tough hill to climb against Windsor, however. With a 1-6 record against the club, K-W will have to figure out ways to score against the defensively tough team. "it's going to be an interesting series. We're both really good teams and really well-coached. They have some really good point guards that facilitate their offence, so we have to be really disciplined on our defence," said Titans guard adam Blazek, who finished sunday's affair with 12 points and six rebounds. Blazek's first season in the NBl after an illustri- ous NCaa dii career at Gannon university was last season. his Niagara river lions were elimi- nated by the Windsor Express in three games in the opening best-of-five series. Blazek is excited for the bright lights and atmo- sphere of playoff basketball. "i'm excited to see the atmosphere, and i'm excited for this K-W crowd to see some playoff basketball," said Blazek. "Everything just gets ramped up a bit. all the lights are on and shining. Everyone is super focused come playoff time." head coach serge langis, who admittedly doesn't express his appreciation often, is pleased with the way his team is playing heading into the playoffs. "i'm really, really pleased that the franchise gets to experience playoffs in its first year and learn from it," said langis. "it's a bonus to the pro- cess, let's put it that way." langis describes the current team as the result of a "second training camp" considering all the turnover the Titans have dealt with this season. Only six players have been with the Titans since the beginning of the season: Blazek, a.J. davis, Cavell Johnson, Greg Morrow, Tramar sutherland and adam Wing. some players left for contracts elsewhere, while Tramique sutherland and Kevin Foster were let go due to an on-court incident in saint John in February. "With our group that we have right now, we've cleaned it up and we've gotten tighter. Everything is a little more crisp." One major factor has been Flen Whitfield, who finished sunday's game with a season-high 34 points and 12 assists. The 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward has played in 17 of the Titans' 39 games this season, averaging about 18 points per game and shooting at a 52 per cent rate. last season, Whitfield was with the Orangeville a's. While the team does have some NBl playoff experience, it will be a learning curve for others. "The best way for me to describe playoff bas- ketball is that everything feels tighter," said lan- gis, who previously coached the Moncton Mira- cles. "The trick is to keep it loose, yet firm. i know that's a contradiction, but people who have gone through it … they know it's just a little tighter." The Titans have one regular season game remaining. in a preview of the best-of-five series, they host the Windsor Express on saturday at the aud. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
