The City of Waterloo, Engineering Services, is proceeding with the reconstruction of Spruce Street (Columbia St. to Hickory St.) and Hickory Street (Spruce St. to King St.). The work includes the replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain, and the complete reconstruction of the roadway including replacement of curb and gutter, and sidewalk. In addition, the project will provide a new outlet for the storm system along Waterloo Collegiate Institute lands from Columbia Street to Spruce Street. Streetscape and pedestrian lighting improvements will also be completed. More information about the reconstruction of Spruce Street and Hickory Street will be shared at an upcoming Public Information Centre. The work includes the replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain, and the complete reconstruction of the roadway including replacement of curb and gutter, and sidewalks. Including the addition of new segregated cycle tracks, streetlights, wider sidewalks, enhanced landscaping and parking on one side of the road. The objective of the project is to make King Street more accessible for everyone, with a streetscape environment that offers a safe, lively, accessible and attractive place to work, live, shop, learn and play. The improvements are intended to enhance the overall streetscape environment and improve the quality of business and economic life of Uptown Waterloo. More information about the reconstruction of King Street will be shared at an upcoming Public Information Centre (PIC). The objective of the PIC is for you to view the design and comment on the construction schedule and staging of work.
