The Wiedenhammer family originated on a farm near St. Clements but later moved to Elmira. When Frederick grew up he became a school teacher and taught several years in Woolwich Township. Then he moved farther afield, teaching in Elora, Dundas and Thamesville. After he received his B.A. degree he continued teaching in Leamington and then Walkerton. He decided that he wanted to become a doctor and attended the Medical School at the University of Toronto. After graduation, in 1906, he married Ottila Conrad and they moved to Hawkesville where he opened a medical office. In 1911 after the death of Dr. Armitage in Waterloo, Weidenhammer bought his home and practice at 21 Duke St. He passed away at the early age of 55 on the day before Christmas, 1921.
