B. 1856 D. 1924
Married: Susanna Hillgartner
John was the only son of Caspar Schneider who owned Hillside Farm (now Columbia St. and Marsland Dr) When Caspar died, John continued the operation of the farm as well as the furniture making. John found it necessary to install a small steam engine to run the machinery instead of water power that his Father had relied upon. The cider mill was also now powered by steam. Schneider adopted Elizabeth and Caroline Hillgartner, his wife’s orphaned sisters. In the early 1900s he sold the farm and moved into a new home he had erected on Noecker St in Waterloo.
