B. 1824 D. 1908
Married: Elizabeth Krafft

Frederick Schlote came to the Waterloo area from Germany when he was still a small lad. When he became of age, he, along with brother-in-law Philip Krafft bought land in the vicinity of King and Young Sts that stretched eastward to Laurel Creek. He farmed this land and also earned a reputation as a butcher in the early settlement. J.B. Fischer learned the trade while working for him. In 1887 he and Philip Krafft registered a plan of subdivision and surveyed the land into building lots of 1/5 acre each. This area would be along Young St. E.
