Description
This is a handwritten biography of John Oetzel from the Ellis Little Papers. This biography has been transcribed exactly as written. Ellis Little was a local historian, who was the principal of Elizabeth Ziegler Public School.On his retirement, he invested much of his time in researching and writing about Waterloo's history. The Ellis Little Papers consist of extensive notes, papers and historical works.

Married - Caroline Hamel

John was born in Breitenbach, Ziegenhain-Hessen, Germany and came to Waterloo with his family in the 1850s. He took up the profession of tailoring and worked out of his home on the corner of Bricker and Albert St N. He was a member of the Evangelical Association and was on the building committee when the congregation built the new church in 1870 on corner of Cedar and Water Sts (now Bridgeport Rd and Dorset).
