This is a handwritten biography of Dr. Charles T. Noecker from the Ellis Little Papers. This biography has been transcribed exactly as written. Ellis Little was a local historian, who was the principal of Elizabeth Ziegler Public School.On his retirement, he invested much of his time in researching and writing about Waterloo's history. The Ellis Little Papers consist of extensive notes, papers and historical works.

Charles Traugott Noecker was the son of Waterloo hotel keeper Charles Noecker. Early in his youth he decided to be part of the medical profession. After public and high school education he attended the University of Toronto medical school from which he graduated in 1886. The very next year he set up a medical practice in Waterloo. Soon after his marriage to Roxanna he moved into the home at 54 Albert St. where he also had his office. He had a long distinguished career of 52 years as a doctor. He was one of the doctors on medical staff of the new Berlin and Waterloo Hospital that was opened in 1895. He was the first medical specialist in Waterloo, his particular emphasis being the eyes, ears, nose and throat. Noecker served 50 years as the medical officer for the Dominion Life Assurance Co. Besides that he acted as Waterloo’s medical officer of Health for 20 years after Dr. A.T. Bauman retired in 1919. One of his other interests was in public education serving for 43 years as Chairman of Waterloo Public School Board.
