- Description
- Photo of the Bridgeport Mill in the late 1940s or early 1950s. The photo appears to have been taken from a staircase of a nearby building (see the railing running through the foreground of the photo).
The mill in Bridgeport was built by Jacob S. Shoemaker in 1830. After Shoemaker, the owners of the mill were Elias Eby and Barnabas Devitt, Peter Shirk and Samuel Snider, and the Waterloo County Supplies Co-operative. On October 6, 1970, the mill caught on fire and burned down. - Notes
