Assists went to Michael DiGravio and Ryan Berkin. With the Bruins trailing in the third period, Adam Petro found himself on a breakâ€" away when the Kitchener defenseman threw his stick and drew a penalty shot. Meschino, who racked up 26 points in a season that saw the Hawks contend for a national title, was honoured for her conâ€" tributions not only to the hockâ€" ey team, but to the community, as well as her academic achievements. "It‘s a pretty huge honour. I can‘t really put into words how it feels, but I don‘t think it will really sink in until years down the road," Meschino said. Meschino was presented with the award during a lunchâ€" eon at the Waterloo Inn. She was chosen from four finalists to receive a $1,000 award. This was the third year for the award ceremony, which doubles as a fundraiser for women‘s sports at Laurier.
