The council, composed of some of Waterloo‘s youth, met for the first time this past Sepâ€" tember and members immediâ€" ately started to plan for upcomâ€" ing youth events. There are the arts and culâ€" ture council, sports and recreâ€" ation council, community issues council, and the newest council â€" the environmental council The councils plan events that take place throughout the year for Waterloo‘s youth to become involved in. Past years‘ events such as coffee houses and dances were great successes and this year‘s events are promising to be even better. The youth council has four individual councils that cater to individual subject matters. On Nov. 23 the community issues youth council will be holding a 30â€"hour fast in supâ€" port of World Vision. The famine will take place at the Adult Recreation Centre from 10 a.m. Friday, to 7 p.m. Saturday. The Adult Recreation Centre is located at 108 King St. S. in uptown Waterloo. h _ The famine will conclude with a delicious spaghetti supâ€" per. The sports and recreation council is holding a pingâ€"pong tournament on Dec. 1 in the Hauser Haus at the Waterloo recteation complex. is required to take part in the famine. Also in December, the youth recreation environmental counâ€" cil is pleased to present a showâ€" ing of the movie The 11th Hour Make sure to bring a food donation if you‘d like to play. This event is sure to be a fun experience full of friendly comâ€" petition. The movie will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Princess Cinema in Waterloo. The cinema is located at 6 Princess St. W. Admission to the movie is two canned goods, one canned good and $1, or $2. This event is a great opportunity to discuss an issues that affects us all. on Dec. 3 Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, the movie brings to light the issues of global warm ing and climate change. The Button Factory is locat ed at 25 Regina St. S. There will be many acoustic performances showcased as well as local artwork. Concesâ€" sion will also be sold. _A discussion and guest speaker will follow the movie Finally, the art and culture youth council is holding a Blue Horizon Coffee House on Dec. 7 at the Button Factory. The event is from 7â€"11 p.m. and costs $6, $5 with a canned food good. _ The coffee house is sure to be a great place to hang out with friends and be exposed to local talent.
