I"[‘he Waterloo Regional Synâ€" chronized Swim Club is swimming across Canada. They‘ve already made it to British Columbia and are on their way north to the Yukon â€" in terms of distance, of course. The club is swimming laps in its pool on Weber Street to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. The girls are swimming the equivalent of the distance across Canada and taking pledges to raise money for a good cause. After they make it to the terâ€" ritories the girls will "travel" back east towards Newfoundâ€" land. The swim is part of a comâ€" mitment by synchronized swimming clubs across Canada to raise funds for breast cancer research. "Every club is doing its own activities. Some are swimming while holding candles, others are holding fundraisers," said Cariâ€"Lin Thurlow, a representaâ€" tive from the club. "We decided to swim across Canada because breast cancer affects everyone across the country," she said. The drive began two weeks ago. The girls gather at the pool every evening and swim laps. The more laps, the more money, Thurlow said.
