came out during the brainstorming session, especially with the inclusion of two classes of enriched students at Waterloo‘s Centenniâ€" al senior public school. Continued from page 10 The students will be producing two segâ€" ments for the show. For the first time ever, they will also be producing some DVD extras for the program. Dave Rotterman, the executive producer of the program, said it‘s no surprise that the DVD generation would think that DVD extras would be an important addition to the program. "We had a lot of energy today," said Rotterman. "This is the first time we‘ve done this in a classroom setting, and it was a lot of fun to see the kids engaged in it. "It was nice to see it from their perâ€" spective." The producers were so impressed by their energy and enthusiasm for the project they‘re now considering includâ€" ing schools in all their future projects. During the brainstorming session with the students at Centennial they showed just how serious they were. While the typical topic areas of Conestoâ€" ga Mall and other teen hangouts came up for the group of 12â€" and 13â€"yearâ€" olds, they showed their maturity by setâ€" tling on uptown Waterloo and the Chilâ€" dren‘s Museum as their main topic areas, while saving places like RIM Park and the Butterfly Conservatory for the DVD extras. "It was interesting to see that a lot of the things that came up in our training session last night came up today," said Rotterman. "Different things got votes that made the short list that didn‘t make the short list last night." Kevin Watt, one of the teachers coâ€" ordinating the project at Centennial, who approached the producers, said the K;lchoncr»Wmcrloo Oktoberfest nnounced the recipients of the 2007 Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year Awards last week at a gala held at the Waterloo Inn.
