The goal is to encourage churches and other faithâ€" based organizations throughout the region to become involved in blood donor parties and help increase blood collections. Unlike booking individâ€" ual appointments, booking a donor party means that a block of time is reserved for group appointments. _ "More and more, people are booking events â€" whether it‘s in memory of LIFESTYLE someone that they‘ve lost, in honour of someone they know who has needed blood ot simply to create a shared opportunity to donate," said Compton. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is holding an informative and interactive symposium on the reality of research in curing diabetes. The public is invited to attend and hear a line up of speakers, as well as personal stories, including one by Pip Mitten, who is now living without Type 1 diabetes due to an islet cell transplant. The drive will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at the clinic at Bridgeport Road and Weber Street in Waterloo. Everyone is invited to take part. There will also be a researcher speaking on the latest breakthrough in curing diabetes.
