As well, Catherine Denis, a systems design engineering _ student, received the inaugural Proâ€" fessional Engineers of Ontario/Engineers Withâ€" out Borders Scholarship, worth $1,000. She will be travelling to Burkina Faso in May for a fourâ€"month overseas internship with EWB. In 2004, Lewis completâ€" ed a fourâ€"month internâ€" ship in Cameroon, where she worked on a health project to improve water, sanitation and hygiene in rural communities. The conference, held Jan. 18â€"22, also included distinguished guest speakâ€" ers such as Lt.â€"General Romeo Dallaire, commanâ€" der of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda in 1994 and author of Shake Hands With the Devil â€"The Failâ€" ure of Humanity in Rwanâ€" "The growth of memâ€" bership and of our educaâ€" tional programs this year is a testament to the hard work, thoughtfulness and dedication of our memâ€" bers." in international developâ€" ment," said Lewis, an ecoâ€" nomics student.
