Vandals leave two schools looking for clues ( :nm‘crm-d by che alarming messages left by vandals over the long weekend, including antiâ€"Christian messages at Sir Edgar Bauer Catholic school, community leaders are asking tor help in solving the crimes. The principals of Sir Edgar Bauer and Cedarbrae public school are also asking the community to keep an eye on the school grounds and to report any suspicious activities as the school year starts to wind down. Police are investigating a rash of offensive messages and symbols painted on the walls of Cedarbrae public and Sir Edgar Baver schools over the May 24 long weekâ€" end, including oifensive and derogatory remarks made about lesus at the Catholic clementary school. lhe vandalism also lett its _ mark _ at _ Albert McCormick Arena. Sir Edgar Bauer principal Dave Kraemer said while his school always deals with a certain level of vandalism as a public place that isn‘t supervised 24 hours a day, he was shocked by defaceâ€" ment and debasement that occurred during this latest spree. "Vandalism is not new to us. but this was quite extenâ€" sive," said Kraemer. Region of Waterloo Public Health, in collaboration with the Wellingtonâ€"Dufferinâ€" Guelph Health Unit, is investigating a case of Hepatitis A in a food bandler at a Waterâ€" loo restaurant. The food handler works at the Mediterraneo Restaurant, located at 425 University Ave. F. "It included profanity Patrons who consumed food or drink at the restaurant between May 4â€"22 may have been exposed to the virus that causes Hepatitis A and may be at risk of developâ€" ing the illness. If you ate or drank at the restaurant during this time period, contact Region of Waterloo Public Health Hepatitis A Hotline at 883â€"2289. Symptoms of Hepatitis A, which causes liver infection, include fever, loss of appetite, nausea and a general feeling of unwell. The illness is spread by the fecalâ€"oral route, which means that feces {stool} must get from the infested person into the mouth of another person for infection to spread. "The little ones were quite taken aback that somebody would do this to their school. "The teachers are talking to the kids and reassuring them. None of the vandalâ€" ism were directed at the children themselves."
