This ongoing program is designed to ensure that the hydrants will operate properly when needed. This years program will involve all hydrants in the city and should be completâ€" ed by the end of November This maintenance program is quite routine, however, it may cause some temporary inconveniences such as poor water pressure and in some cases coloured water. Please check your water before use and if discoloured water is detected, please open a cold water tap and allow the water to run until it clears. This is a tempoâ€" rary situation. The City of Waterloo is aware that some residents may be concerned about the water being used as part of this maintenance program, especially in light of the water use restrictions in place this year. The testing of fire hydrants is legislated.â€" Staff will keep water use to a minimum while performing the testing necessary to meet our legislated responsibility. The City of Watertoo Utlity Staff and the City of Waterloo Fire Department thank you for your coâ€"operaâ€" tion and understanding Any questions or concerns should be directed to | the Utilities Customer Service Representative at 747â€"8613. Watermain Cleaning Update â€" May 4, 2005 The watermain cleaning in the west side of Waterloo which began April 11th will be comâ€" pleted by May 5th. The schedule and map (also available on the City‘s website www.city.waterâ€" loo.on.ca) will allow you to identify when we will be cleaning in your area and when you should be watching carefully for discoloured water. The cleaning operation. starts at 8:00am and ends at 6:00pm on the indicated area day (see map). We suggest that you bypass any water treatment or conditioning devices because you will likely receive discoloured water. If necessary, you may continue to use your water at all times during this cleaning program However, if you notice that your water is startâ€" ing to discolour, you should discontinue use, wait approximately one hour, then allow a hard, cold water tap to run for a mintmum of 5 mmâ€" utes and a maximum of 10 minutes until the water is cleat We recommend that you do not drink discoloured water hA to hK GM (» SA to S\ Al Thank you for your patience and coopera tion.
