When the water wasn‘t drinkable, which it hasn‘t been on more than one occasion, the city‘s pipes have deposited large amounts of iron on textiles Decker uses in her homeâ€" based business. The angry mother of two has complained to the city on numerous occasions about the damage the sediment has caused, totalling almost $5,000 in the last year alone. That‘s a major financial hit for the textile artist who paints fabric and has lost more than 60 metres of the work she ships to retailers in the U.S. as part of her Internetâ€"based business. "Most of my business is in the U.S., and they‘re shops so there‘s a time limit of when things have to get out," said Decker. "I don‘t know how many times this summer the water would be bad, and all this iron would come through and ruin metres and metres of fabric." She complained to the city on three separate occasions. After being frustrated by the various answers coming out of the public works department, she was finally told by city officials to make a claim against the municipality.
