This year. the government has chosen for Seniors Month. to focus on the importance of body mind and spint for indrvidual well being. At Terraces by Hallman, we are proud that this is our tocus every day of the year Our key concept of Mind. Body and Soul is prominently displayed on out brothure and is practiced in our homes each day to meet these needs. We beheve this approach to the whole individual is vital to help our residents in their goal to enjoying the best quality of life possible If any of these three aspects of a person‘s needs goes unmet, we believe it can compromise their enjoyment and fulfiliment of life to one degree or another. Here are but a few advantages of successfully meeting these needs First. let‘s consider the Mind. The centre of thinking. learning. attitude and emotion, it‘s not diffiâ€" cult to see why it‘s an important aspect of health and well being. The growing trend. which we see in all our retirement communities. is to pursue constant learning and selfâ€"growth. That‘s why we provide a teacher regularly in every one of our homes. More than ever, ongoing learning is an important expression of self, and helps us to feel more selfâ€"confident in our ongoing abilities and interaction with others. It is a satistying way to keep interested and involved. and helps us to be better members of our community. Learning can also greatly enhance opportunities to socialize. It enhances a sense of self, of belonging. and can help to improve mood. Learning challenges and exercises the minds Speaking of exercise, think about the advantages of maintaining a healthy body !romically. the more fit a person becomes, the more energy they have to do more There are great benefits of becoming and keeping fit, including the possibility of strengthening the legs for standing, sitting, and walking It‘s good for the heart. lungs, circulation and digestion Being fit may help to increase mobility longer in life. allowing an indiwidual to have more choice about what they want to do and how well they feel physically Strength in the limbs may also enhance balance and prevent falls that can cause damage to the body. including pam and healing time. The good news is. healthy muscles that have not heen exercised for some time can often be built up again. This means that regular exercise can help strengthen muscles at any age Please remember. however, before startâ€" ing any exercise program always check with your doctor Being healthy in body and mind is a wonderful achievement. and the third key for total well being is enriching the sout Although it is not as easy to define or identity. it is nonetheless a key factor in our sense of fulfillment Having our spiritual needs met usually means experiencing a sense of peace There are many ways in which people achieve this sense They may fulfill this need through practicing their religion through prayer or meditation. or even by seeking opportunities to experrâ€" ence a sense nf harmony with nature However that need is met. it is important to fulfill a sense of self Our homes include Bankside Terrace in Kitchener.
