The Wilmot Line would not connect directly to the roundabout but would connect to the south leg of the roundabout and be designed in a manner to limit traffic north on the Wilmot Line. The intersection can also accommodate the future traffic from the future subdivisions North of Columbia Street extension. Construction of the first phase of the Columbia Street Extension commenced in the summer of 1998 and that extended Columbra Street to about 400 metres West of Erbâ€" sville Road. Then in 2002, Columbia Street was again extended to Lucerne Avenue. The extension of Columbia Street from the intersection with Lucerne Avenue to the Wilmot Line is currently scheduled for 2005 and 2006 (according to the 2002 Develâ€" opment Charges Background Study) and also depending on the rate of development in the immediate areas. In the approved Class Environmental Assessment document (1997 Columbia Street Extension}, secuon 6.2.2.6 recommended certain further study should be undertaken which may include upgrades or improvements to the Wilmot Line at the time of conâ€" nection of Columbia Street to provide suitable geometric and to satisfy safety design standards. Due to the decision of City Council in September 2003 eliminating future local subdivision streets rof the West side neighbourhoods) from connecting onto the Wilmot Line, the City undertook the West Side Traffic Design Analysis and also the West Side District Plans Review. In order to satisfy all of the decisions since 1997 and the recommendation of the West Side Traffic Design Analysis. the City of Waterâ€" loo is issuing an addendum to the 1997 Columbia Street Class Environmental Assessâ€" ment for the Columbia Street Extension (Erbsville Road to the Wilmot Line}.
