YOUR ONTARIO FORD DEALERS BRING YOU protessional lactosse? He said it‘s the chance to visit nearby Arthur Asbe stadium in August in time for the US. Open. You see, Benesch is a tennis fan. And he is quite the aficionado with the racquet himself, playing tennis and badminton. He even made it to the WCSSAA badminton finals with the Celtes last year. "Ill get to watch some tennis," said Benesch, suggesting there are some natural movements that racâ€" "It makes it a little easier to move my stick around, and it helps me switch hands easier." â€" Ryan Benesch Aâ€"W Braves smiper Ryan Benesch quet sports like tennis and badâ€" minton share with lacrosse. "It makes it a little easier 10 move my stick around, and it helps me switch hands easier." Because a big part of lacrosse is holding on to the ball once you get it, protecting that piece of Indian rubâ€" ber in close quarters is one of the diminutive Beneschs specialties. She former winner of the Joe Nieuwendyk trophy, as the OLAs Junior Rookie of the year two years ago, isn‘t the biggest players on the concrete playing surface. But he is one of the shifuest. â€"Ryan Benesch U 8. scholarship reciprent And that ability to find open space will serve him well in the outâ€" door lacrosse game they play in the U.S. Plus it will give him a break from "It‘s a little more spread out, and there‘s no crossâ€" checking obviously. So it will be a little different." Hallman Midget Twins hope to surprise a few teams at annual event I"[‘he Waterloo Hallman Midget Twins are getting tired of being taken for granted. They might be young, but they are talented. And if the hitting starts producing, the pitching and defence is strong enough to make them a contender for the Ontario softball elimination tournaâ€" ment at the end of June. That‘s why they hope to surprise a few teams this weekend at their annual Waterloo Midget tournaâ€" ment at Hillside and Waterâ€" loo Parks. The Canadian champiâ€" ons, the Elmira Midgets, will be the favourite going into the tournament. But Midget Twins head coach Richard Martin said nobody should count his club out in the 12â€"team event. So it will be a litte different." Benesch said he doesn‘t mind having the extra space. "Hopefully [ van step right in," he said. The move will mean Benesch will have to give up on hockey for a while, but he said he wouldn‘t have it any other way. Lacrosse is the ticket to his big league dreams. But while the hockey stick will be tetired for a while, hanging up the racquet is an entirely other matter. "I‘ve never played outside of school, but once 1 get into school t love playing it." said Benesch. "If just comes easy," Not after the strong showâ€" ing they had at a recent Junior tournament. They might have lost all three games, but Martin said they were in every one of them. The team, like most fastâ€" ball teams. is built around its pitching and hitting. The pitching, in particular. is the strength of the club, with returning fireballers Kevin Buckley and Matt Young. "Our pitching is strong and our defence is as good as anybody," he said. "Our hitting needs a little bit of work, but it‘s getting better every game." "We lost to Elmira in extrainnings," said Martin. "We‘re a young team, but we have a lot of potential." Joining them this season is Andy McLean, which gives Martin a lot of options. The tournament starts Saturday at 9 a.m. at Hillside Park, with the finals set for 2 p.m. Sunday.
