PLEASE CALL US FIRST!!! In the past, the City of Waterloo has identified problems with both old and new water valves which require repair. If the valve is located in your driveâ€" way and a repair is necessary, it will likely require excavating an area around the valve. ‘ If an excavation in a paved driveway cannot be avoided, we will patch the area to the highest standard; however. we will not replace the entire driveway. Please call us three weeks prior to paving your driveway so that we may inspect any valve which may be present. Do not assume your driveway conâ€" tractor will arrange this. Many times. they don‘t. Thank you CALL BEFORE YOU PAVE 886â€"2310 An unsightly patch could result in your brand new driveway if you do not call for an inspection. THE CITY OF j: PLANNING ON GETTING YOUR DRIVEWAY PAVED? < The City of Waterloo budget, passed on May 1, 2004, achieved the 5 key objectives that Council set at the beginning of the budget process; "This marks an end to a very difficult budget session for the City of Waterloo," said Mayor Herb Epp. "We have been able to return stability to finances in Waterloo and can now move on to deal with the needs of our growing and dynamic community." Councilior Jan d‘Ailly who is the Chair of the Finance and Strategic Planning Committee is pleased that these objectives have been met. Councillor d‘Ailly reiterates that "the tax increase is high but is what it takes to deal with the issues that we were elected to address. It puts RIM Park and the declining reserves behind us." City of Waterloo Dog Byâ€"law #91â€"101 requires ALL DOGS TO BE LEASHED, Failure of an owner to prevent their dog from running at large may result in a conviction and fine. City of Waterloo Dog Byâ€"law #91â€"101 also requires owners to clean up any mess left by their dog while walking or exercising. Protect your family pet, and exercise it on a leash. An easy way to "stoop and scoop" is to carry a plastic bag with you when walking your dog. Proper disposal of dog excrement is also a concern and the excrement should be flushed down a bathroom toilet. Failure to clean up after your dog can result in a conâ€" viction and fine. Thoughtful dog owners have always cleaned up after their pets, but it is also the law. City of Waterloo Byâ€"law #03â€"073 requires every person in charge of a dog must clean up any mess left by their dog on private and public property. Please cooperate and help keep our City clean. The City of Waterloo Noise Byâ€"law #78â€"79 prohibits "persistent barking, whining, calling or other similar persistent noise made by any domestic pet..." This Section of Byâ€"law #78â€"79 is enforceable day and/or night. If you have a concern regarding a barkâ€" ing dog in your neighbourhood the City recommends residents try to resolve the matter between themselves prior to contacting the Byâ€"law Enforcement Department for assis tance. If you are unable to resolve the matter, please call the Waterloo Regional Police at 653â€"7700 and ask for Dispatch. They will dispatch one of our byâ€"law officers to speak to the owners of the dog and/or lay charges. Sensitivity about disturbing one another and tolerance could go a long way to resolving these types of issues and making any legal action by the City, unnecessary If you have any questions regarding the above or any other regulatory byâ€"laws, please contact the By law Enforcement Department at 747 8785 Regional Comparison Waterloo Property Taxes continue to remain lower than the other regional cities, Kitchener and Cambridge based on the average residential market value of $184,000 for 2004.
