Lhe scholarships were onginally valued at $1.000 and given to four students. Now im its ninth year this is the first year the scholar ship is worth $2,000, with $1,000 going towards the students‘ first vear and the other $1.000 to their second veqr "I‘m really pleased with it," he said, adding. "I‘s a good investment into the future for the community." Being an active citizen, Thompson says he always likes something new. "As | see a different opportunity, 1 latch onto it." In his 20th year with K.S.A., Thompson has spearheaded the Olympic Dreams Project, a fundraisâ€" er which puts athletes closer to their dreams of reaching the Olympics. In addition. Seven years ago Thompâ€" son was approached by a woman whose son had been paralysed from a fall. In need of a wheelchair accessible van and not havâ€" ing luck in finding help, Fhompson decided to take the initiative and hold a fundraiser. With help and ideas from friends, the Tournament of Hope Golf Classic was creatâ€" ed.
