Waterloo regiongl policy unveil new Impaired arming Simulator Waterloo Regional Police is now displaying the Matrix impaired driving simulator at area schools and special events, follow- ing the official launch last Thursday. at police head- quarters in Cambridge. The Toyota Matrix was donated to regional police in 2002. and since then has been undergoing technical modifications which have yet to be revealed. lt is the newest tool avail- able to educate drivers. par- ticularly youth. about the dangers of driving after con- suming alcohol or drugs. The simulator is the result of a partnership con- sisting of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Corporation. University of Waterloo, K-W Chapter of MAD.D. (Moth- ers Against Drunk Driving), Elmira District Secondary School. Waterloo Regional Community Health. Edcom Multimedia and the Water- loo Regional Police Service. This project has been made possible in part by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Cor- rectional Services. The simulator is operat» ed by the traffic services branch of the Waterloo Regional Police and will be made available to area schools on a rotating basis. as well as at special events.
