How many times could you live through a night gone wrong? Once? Twice? How about 3 times? Next Level Theatre shows the unpredictable side of life in new stage comedy ‘Life X 3‘ That‘s what Yasmina Reza explores in her brilliant new play, Life x 3. And Next Level Theatre is giving Southwestâ€" ern Oniario a chance to experience this groundâ€" breaking comedy that has challenged and entertained audiences from Europe to Broadway. Life is upredictable, often with few clear guidelines. A different _ reaction, _ a changed word, or a modiâ€" fied attitude can create a domino effect with unforeâ€" seen results. Much of Yasmina Reza‘s blistering new comedy, Life x 3, is about examining the choices we make and their consequences, with all the uncertain and ephemeral implications. Will Kernohan, the direcâ€" tor for this Next Level Theâ€" atre production, describes the Play: "Life x 3 presents three versions of two couâ€" ples (and an offstage sixâ€" year old) trying to make a success of one evening despite the fact that they neither like nor respect one another. "When Hubert and Inez arrive a day early for dinner at the at the home of Henri and Sonia, Sonia barely has time to change out of her robe and Inez is in a foul mood about a run in her stocking. From there, the evening goes downhill. Over an improvised meal of chocolate fingers, potato chips, and wine, the couples trade insults on social and professional levels, and loyâ€" alties are changed as quickly as glasses of wine are drained. However, Yasmina Reza astutely used the couâ€" ples‘ acidic exchanges to illuninate the innate desire for love and acceptance in us all." Next Level Theatre will present Life X 3, Nov. 6â€"8 at The Church Theatre in St. Jacobs One of the most comâ€" pelling and thoughtâ€"provokâ€" ing productions of Next Level Theatre‘s last few seaâ€" sons, it‘s hardly a play that you can leave behind in the theatre. Highly captivating and entertaining, Life X 3 is less a slice (or three} of life than a dissection of it, revealing the humour â€" and spirit â€" pulsing within. _ Only three performance dates: Nov. 6, 7, and 8 at 8 p.m. at The Church Theatre, _ THANK YOU ~ For five years I have had the joy of presenting a weekly column in the Waterloo Chronicle.
