Waterloo amputee has special role at War Amps seminar aterloo resident W(Zourtney Gilmour has a demanding but enjoyable job ahead of her as a junior counsellor to child amputees from across Canada attending the War Amps 2003 Multiâ€" ple Amputation Seminar, Oct. 24â€"26 in Ottawa. The Association holds regular regional seminars for members of its Child Amputee (CHAMP) Proâ€" gram, however War Amps chief executive officer Cliff Chadderton initiated this special seminar to address the needs of "Super Champs"â€" those missing three or more limbs or both upper limbs. Courtney, 19, was born a multiple amputee and, as a Super Champ, receives financial assistance with the cost of artificial limbs, travel costs for fittings, counselling, and attends CHAMP seminars. Concerns like dealing with teasing and staring are dealt with in a session called "Just the Way I Am" in which junior counselâ€" lors, like Gilmour, offer advice on how they hanâ€" dled these problems while growing up. Library I would like to see a better library service. I do not agree with building a new one, but look to expanding the existing library and building a satellite in Ward 3. Would like to see an incentive program offered to residences who go pesticide free or use organic spray. Bike paths should be an integral part of all future planning.
