THE CITY OF |§J Waterloo Tip: _ Muiching your leaves with a lawn mower or other mulching device prior to bagging can reduce leaf volumes. (10 bags of loose leaves = 1 bag of mulched leaves} CURBSIDE LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM In order to improve service, the fall Loose Leaf Pickâ€"up Program is changing. Loose leaf collection will begin on Monday, October 20, 2003 and run for approximately six weeks. Loose leaves should be raked onto the roadway and piled as close to the curb as possible. Rake your leaves to the curb as early in the program as possible, while the weather is more favourable. This will help to ensure that they are picked up. Residents who do not have their leaves out on time should deliver them to the Waterioo Landfill site at 925 Erb Street for composting. Mulching and composting are the most economical and environmentally beneficial ways to deal with your leaves. * Instead of disposing of your leaves, save them. and gradually add them to your home composter. They will break down into a useful organic material that can be added to flower and vegetable gardens + Leaves although bulky when first raked will compost well in a pile over the winter * Rather than raking your leaves, why not mulch them on your lawn or into your garden? When the leaves are dry. mow your lawn more frequently. The mulched leaves will soon disappear into your lawn or garden as fertilizer + Take your bagged leaves to the Waterloo Landfill site at 925 Erb Street for composting RAKING LEAYVES ONTO THE ROADW AY IS ONLY PERMITTED DURING THE CITVS SCHEDULED LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM 4 How often will you pickâ€"up leaves on my street® Starting on October 20. 2003. our crews will hegin picking up leaves on both the East and West side of the city They will follow the routing as pictured in the map above in numerical order .
