TEAM QOFTHE WEEK The Waterloo Chronicle Team of the Week is the Waterloo Wolves Squirt fastâ€" ball team. The Wolves capped off a sucâ€" cessful 2003 season in August by winning the North Waterloo league champiâ€" onships. After a near perfect 17â€"1 regular season record, the Wolves swept through the yearâ€"end tournament, winning all of their games. After 17â€"1 and 13â€"1 victories over Stratford and Brantford, the Wolves clinched the championships with a 5â€"2 win over the host team New Dundee. In the championship game, Brendan Roach‘s threeâ€"run homerun in the fourth inning put Waterloo up to stay with a 3â€"1 lead. Dan Ostapiak‘s twoâ€"out, twoâ€"run single in the bottom of the sixth clinched the 5â€"2 victory. Devin Drury and Blake Donald chipped in with a couple of hits apiece in the win, while Roach went the distance on the mound giving up four hits while striking out 18 over seven innings.
