"From the moment I was allowed legally. I've taken responsibility. "Urn prepared for the questions, and I intend to tell it like it is," she said. referring to the RIM Park scandal. "And I've also taken responsibility for getting this community $84 mil- lion relief from the amount that it was (before out-of- court settlement). "I feel strongly that I've worked hard to unwind this situation. The (debt) is manageable. and it won't stop us anymore." Woolstencroft hopes the community will look beyond the RIM Park mat- ter and get a clear view of some of the city's accom- plishments over the last three years. - And topping the list, she said, may be the Brighton school project. Woolstencroft was a vocal supporter of the pro- posal to move Emmanuel child-care centre into the former public school, as well as a plan to convert the rest of the property into 60 affordable housing units and parkland. Woolstencroft said she plans to ensure the city continues to build on its strengths in the areas of environmental leadership, economic viability. fiscal responsibility and accountability. cultural entrepreneurship. and the ability to attract new busi- nesses in keeping with its "destiny". She plans to address projects and issues specifi- cally when she officially launches her campaign Sept. 28 "This community has always treated me with great respect, and l them," she said. "There's a covenant between the citi- zens and me, and I intend to renew my vow." The muhicipal election willtake, place Nov. 10. - Candidates have until Sept. 26 to file their nomi- nation papers with the clerk's department at Waterloo City Hall. "And all of that was in consultation with the com- munity, which is how I like to do things," she said.
