Rotary Children‘s Centre changes name Ili:(e the butterfly on its ew logo, the Rotary Children‘s Centre in Waterâ€" loo has emerged from its cocoon and transformed into the KidsAbility Centre for Child Development The centre spread its wings last Friday, unveiling its new identity, name and logo in front of over 200 supâ€" porters at its central location on Hallmark Drive. The new image reflects the centre‘s mission and vision of to cultivate and realize the potential of chilâ€" dren and young adults with developmental, physical and communication disabilâ€" ities. The communityâ€"based organization provides indiâ€" vidual, needsâ€"based services to children and their famiâ€" "We‘re marking the end of an era, and launching and brand new direction and course," said Bob Blowes, president of the KidsAbility Centre for Child Developâ€" Blowes said the centre still values its close associaâ€" tion with the local Rotary Club, which founded the children‘s centre in 1957. But since the Rotary Club logo could not be used by the centre‘s sites in Camâ€" bridge, Guelph and Fergus, organizers felt the need to have a more uniform identiâ€" But all of the centre‘s corâ€" respondence will still include the signature line â€" "Founded and Supported by Rotarians Since 1957". "The name is just the tip of the iceberg for what we do," Blowes said. "But like the tip of an iceberg, it‘s still the most visible part of us. And it‘s critically important to the support we receive from the community." Not that the support hasâ€" n‘t been strong, Blowes said. And that was proven again with the success of the annual Kids Can‘t Wait camâ€" The annual drive brought in over $815,870 for the cenâ€" tre, surpassing its goal of $750,000. But Blowes said the cenâ€" tre could stand to be more visible in the community at "Our mission is not well understood, even though we‘ve touched the lives of thousands of children and families," he said. "I hope (new identity) will help people understand who we are, how we got here and how we‘ve helped thouâ€" sands of children reach their potential." Elaine Ormston, presiâ€" dent of the KidsAbility Founâ€" dation, was also excited about the centre‘s new look.
