Dave Robson, a former viceâ€"president with MFP Financial Services Inc. who negotiated the terms of the lease style loan agreement for RIM Park with the City of Waterloo, is expected to take the stand at the judicial inquiry in late January. ne man may hold the Oï¬nal piece of the puzâ€" zle needed to explain the RIM Park financing mess. Boxing Day intfmate whispers 25° OFF Al Steepwe« 1369 King Street, St. Jacobs (Upper Level) (519)664â€"1016 By Anorea Bamey Chronicle Staff eepwear Lingene As the man who arranged the deal that doubled the cost of RIM Park from $112.9 million, which the city believed to owe, to $227.7 million, Robson will be asked to fill in many of the blanks. Though, another former MFP employee shed new light on the scandal last week, testifying his compaâ€" ny was supposed to set up a meeting with the city, as well as Clarica who purâ€" chased the debt, to discuss the terms of the deal, prior to the signing of the 31â€"year lease agreement on Sept. 25, He claimed Clarica demanded MFP set up the meeting, through a clause in a letter of commitment for the transaction. But Jerry Makohon, who once sold deals arranged by MFP to pension funds and insurance companies, said the meeting never hapâ€" pened. Had the meeting taken place, the city may have found out that instead of paying $48.3 million for the WELL EQUIPPED AND AFFORDABLE AT WELL EQUIPPED AND AFFORDABLE AT MONTHLY PAYMENT 2003 DISCOVERY S $59Q‘ 2003 FREELANDER S MONTHLY PAYMENT $399" SECURITY DEPOSIT loan, at an interest rate city officials believed to be in the range of 4.73 per cent, $59 million was expected, at an interest rate of over 7.5 per cent. City officials claim they knew nothing of the overâ€" $11 million in administraâ€" tion fees tacked on to the cost of the loan. Of the $59 million, MFP was taking $10.9 million as its fee. Makohon said he would have expected the parties to meet prior to the signing of the deal. But he added, questions regarding the specific terms of the deal, such as the schedule of repayment conâ€" tained in Schedule B of the subâ€"lease agreement, can be best answered by one man â€" Robson. The inquiry has adjourned for the holidays, but will resume Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at RIM Park. Irene Payne, the former senior viceâ€"president of MFP in charge of sales, will take the stand. sECURITY DEPOSIT ND RO O $
