Drayton Entertainment welcomes holiday season with fundraiser for St. John‘s Kitchen Draylon Entertainment will be celebrating the Christmas holidays this seaâ€" son by paying tribute to the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol. The _ awardâ€"winning organization is teaming up with The Church of St. John The Evangelist and The Working Centre for a unique fundraiser that will certainly put local residents in the holiday spirit. This special event, titled A Christmas Carol â€" A Dramatic Readâ€" ing will be held Nov. 30 at The Church of St. John The Evangelist, located at 23 Water St. N. in Kitchener. All proceeds will go directly to St. John‘s Kitchen, which prepares over 300 meals every day to lacal families in the Kitchâ€" enerâ€"Waterloo area. "St. John‘s Kitchen is truly a valuable resource in the community," says Alex Musâ€" takas, artistic director of Drayton Entertainment. "We are proud to assist them with their special fundraiser, and do anything we can to ensure this vital service continues for many more years to come." Mustakas is directing the fundraiser, and is putting a fresh, updated touch on Charles Dickens‘ beloved classic. He has gathered five wellâ€"known celebrities in the area to donate their time and act as special guest readers â€" including Dave Chilton, author of The Wealthy Barber; Terry Doyle, veteran Drayton Entertainâ€" ment actor; Lisa Laflamme, coâ€"host of CTV‘s Canada AM; Nancy Richards, host of CKCO‘s News at Noon; and Dave Stephens, host of CBC‘s Ontario Today. Special music will be provided by Wayne Berwick, Karen K. Edissi, and The Mantini Sisters. They will be joined by The Choir of St. John The Evangelist, under the direction of Marlin Nagtegaal. Fresh off a soldâ€"out run this past summer at the Schoolhouse Theatre in St. Jacobs in Canadian Loonie, local comedian Neil Aitchiâ€" son will once again don his Mountie costume as Conâ€" stable Archibald E. Inkster and act as Master of Cereâ€" monies. "This fundraiser is a great way to welcome the sights and sounds of the holiday season," says Mustakas. "The timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge and his spectacular transformation is truly heartwarming, and I believe audiences will leave this fundraising event feelâ€" ing inspired about mankind and more hopeful about the future." Tickets are $20 for adults, and $10 for children 14 and under.
