The following is part of an ongoing series of pieces by local artist Peter Etril Snyder. In the series, Peter will describe for us some of the works he has created. Family scenes of Mennonâ€" ite life are among the most popular of the topics that I paint. I find works of all aspects of the traditional way of livâ€" ing satisfying. It is interestâ€" ing to note that Mennonite families spend much time together. They are not torn apart by separate activities for each member of the family. Meals are eaten together. No pressure is exerted on their schedule by soccer, business, travel, or music lessons. Carriage Conversation This small painting depicts a double carriage PETER ETRIL SNYDER ACE mixes the dough and allows it to rise slowly at the bakery. It is partially baked, then flash frozen to naturally preserve its quality and freshness. Trained bakery staff finish the baking process at the store. After an arteryâ€"straining traditional meal of beef, potatoes, vegetables and several types of dessert, this family heads west towards their farm. An additional traveller occupies the passenger side of the front seat. The driver always sits on the right side of the bench so that he can see the edge of the road.
