t was a big weekend for Ilocal girls minor hockey, as the Waterloo Ravens hosted their firstâ€"ever tourâ€" nament at RIM Park last weekend. More than 28 teams in the threeâ€"day tournament featuring five divisions of play at teams from as far away as Rochester, N.Y. Ravens put on a good show _ / Organizers and volunâ€" teers put on a great show for the visitors, and also got some great results from the home teams. The Ravens Atom girls team came in the tournaâ€" ment with only three goals against but were unable to advance into the champiâ€" onship game. In their first game, Waterloo lost twoâ€" one to Ancaster. Scoring was Lauren Brignolio from Jessica Salvatore. In their second game they lost 1â€"0 to Durham West. In the third game Waterâ€" loo came on strong outscorâ€" ing Hamilton 6â€"0 but failed to advance. Megan Hutton had a hatâ€"trick in the win, while Erin Helmond scored twice and added two assists. Brignolio had the other goal, while Amanda Woodcroft added two assists. The Bantam Ravens girls team made it to the Bronze game but were unable to pick up a medal after a strong performance. They opened up with a 3â€" 1 win over Coldwater. Scorâ€" ing was Carrie Balch, Katryâ€" na Stemmler and Stephanie Brignolio.
