(iilii, lil The following is part of an ongoing series of pieces by local artist Peter Etril Snyder. Cradled by the Village Green , We just happened onto this village one afternoon as we set off from our farmhouse self-catering spot. driving to a pub listed in the Good Pub Guide. This village was at the confluence of three roads holding in the centre plot. a village gmen that cradled this small pond complete with ducks Osmaston (Derbyshire) is a village that could have been created by Disney but has instead existed for many hundreds of years h is among the most romantic villages that I have seen in Wand. In the series, Peter will describe for us some of the works he has created. Of course the thatched houses add a romantic note. We were thrilled to get to know a thatcher several years ago in Kentflhis former head- master had decided that he wanted healthy outside work and took a course in the thatching craft. Shortly there- after, he bought a franchise. can you believe it, from a national company to thatch in a part of Kent. Apparently the parent company advertised and supplied the reeds and fixings and he supplied the labour. I didnt want to believe that this romantic craft had met the Golden Arches con- cept, but there you ate. Tune to PM 98.5 Friday at 8:15 am. for a discussion about this piece with the artist. Peter Etril Snyder is a resident of Waterloo who operates a galleryaisg Erb. St E Ask for dob"!
