Mexicans attempting to escape from the American border patrols hide in the dense greenery. Unfortunately, the cane is so dense that, 20 feet in, they get lost and can‘t find their way out. At harvest time, fires are lit with blowâ€" torches. The remaining charred cane is chopped into threeâ€"foot lengths and delivered to a sugar mill for processing. We have heard horror stories about bodies found in the sugar cane fields after the fires. We have also heard that the fields are only torched on three sides to allow any Mexican aliens to escape.
