HELPING TO BUILD A BETTER COMMUNITY es THE CitY OfF EE;I Waterloo Winter can be trying for homeowners and motorists City of Waterloo would like to provide the following information: Parks and Works Services staff operate 24 hours a day using 50 pieces of snow removal equipment to keep our streets and sidewalks safe during the winter months. During major snow storms all streets are generally cleared within 15 hours in the following priority: 1) Major arterial roads and Uptown streets 2) Secondary roads, bus routes and high traffic rural roads 3) Local roads The City of Waterloo is divided into 12 plow routes and each of these plow routes is further divided into subâ€"areas A, B and C. With each new snow storm the plow operators are instructed to start in a different subâ€"area. So for the first storm they may start in your area first but the next storm you may be last on the plow route. The Winter Snow Line 747â€"8600 is active during main snow clearing operations. DON‘T LEAVE (Y)OUR NEIGHBOUR OUT IN THE SNOW _ .& For further information contact Byâ€"law Enforcement at 747â€"8714 www.city. waterioo.on.ca WHAT CAN YOU DO? sSNOW CLEARING INFORMATION CLEAR (Y)OUR WALK Do not park on the street during a snowstorm or when snow clearing operations are underway. Pile all snow from your driveway and walks on your property â€" not the road. Clear your walkways within 24 hours to be pedestrian friendly and avoid being fined. If you cannot clear your walk due to health or mobility restriction call the Waterloo Home Support Service, 579â€" 6930. Keep back from the snow plow equipment and give them plenty of room when passing â€" Snow removal vehicles must back up from time to time. Please be patient. All streets will be plowed! On your garbage day, place your garbage and recycling containers, close to the road edge but, if possible, in your driveway so they do not interfere with snow removal.
