COMMUNITY INFORMATION 886â€"1550 Fulltime Contract Position (35 hours/week) The Cities of Kitchener and Waterloo are hosting the 2002 Ontario Summer Games, which are to take place July 18 â€" 21, 2002. Through a partnership with the Kitchener Sports Association we have secured grant monies from the Trillium Foundation to hire a Volunteer Coordinator. We are anticipating over 3,000 athletes for these games and are hoping for a compliment of 1,500 volunteers to assist the Cities in hosting yet another successful games event. The sucâ€" cessful candidate will be responsible for preparing volunteer recruitment promotional materiâ€" als, media releases as well as recruitment, training/orientation, placement and evaluation of all volunteers required for the successful hosting of the 2002 Ontario Summer Games. He/she will maintain volunteer/athlete database and generate participant reports; deliver presentation to groups on volunteer opportunities, ensure adequate volunteer recruitment for all subcommitâ€" tees of the Games and participate in volunteer training/orientation as required. The necessary qualifications are a Degree or Diploma in Volunteer Management, Marketing or a Recreation related field, two years experience in volunteer management, knowledge of the community. Excellent organizational and communication skills as well as knowledge or proâ€" motions and material development are required. Must be proficient in Access & Microsoft Office 97. Basic First Aid would be an asset. Note: Must be flexible to work daytime, evenings and weekends. Rate of pay: $23.00 per hour (35 hours/week) Employment Period: effective immediately until August 31, 2002 Fulltime Contract Position (35 hours/week) Through Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) we have secured grant monies to hire a Project Manager for the 2002 Ontario Summer Games. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management and support of the Games Office including all processes such as registration, accreditation, information dissemination, sales, purchasing and banking. He/she will supervise and provide direction to the additional HRDC staff, students and office volunteers as well as providing secretarial support to the Games Volunteer Chair, Volunteer Coordinator and Games Organizing Committee. The necessary qualifications are a formal education in office/business administration or a relatâ€" ed field. Excellent organizational, supervisory and communication skills as well as proficienâ€" cy in Access & Microsoft Office 97. Basic First Aid would be an asset. Note: Must be flexible to work daytime, evenings and weekends. Rate of Pay: $20.60 per hour. (35 hours/week) Employment Period: effective immediately until September 30, 2002.
