Soon after the play was under way, we became aware that the little girl sitâ€" ting beside us knew all of Anne‘s lines. She whispered to us that she had seen the performance many times. She smiled when Anne explained how happy she was to be adopted. At times, our little friend was so excitâ€" e had no plans to see Anne of Green Gables, the Musical, while we were in Charlottetown, PEL _ We were acquainted with the books written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Our plans changed when we met Don Harron and disâ€" covered that he not only wrote the play but coâ€"wrote the lyrics. We appreciate Don‘s intellect and his sense of humeur and fun. When he offered to make arrangeâ€" ments for us to see Anne at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, we didn‘t hesitate to accept. St. Jude‘s Tutoring School is an after hours school for elementary and high school students who want to achieve to the best of their ability. St. Jude‘s Tutoring Schools provide many different "clubs" designed to give students an educational advantage in their home schools These clubs are mini classes that not only provide the individualized instruction needed but they also provide an opportunity to learn how to learn in a larger classroom setting that cannot be achieved in a one, two. or threeâ€"toâ€" one tutoring situation. With 1. 2 or 3â€"toâ€"one tutoring the student‘s academic performance improves only while the tutoring is occurring. Under this system, students become dependant upon the tutor rather than developing independent learning skills and tend to need tutoring year after year. The clubs at St. Jude‘s Tutoring Schools help students to learn how to learn. It is the goal of St. Jude‘s to give students the skills to achieve in their home school without reliance upon a tutor.
