Ht-Nov, 3, and the show promises to keep audi- ences on the edge of their seats. Based on the best-selling novel and Oscar-winning film. Misery is the chilling story of romance-novelist Paul Sheldon. who is saved from near-death by former nurse. Annie Wilkes. What begins as a heroic act turns into a bloody nightmare as Sheldon struggles to break free from the clutches of his "Anyone who is expecting a recreation of the movie will be surprised," says director Trevor Smith Diggins. "The stage play moves at a much quicker pace and in, many ways. it's far more frighten- ing. 'number one fun'. Recommended for mature audiences. " "Misery is a real a tour de force for the two actors who must carry the show and work in synch with some carefully timed special effects. The technical aspects are. in a sense. the third actor, and I expect the combined results will be quite powerful." Misery features GLT vet- eran Rob Gray as Paul Sheldon and newcomer Naomi Kroeker as Annie Wilkes. Producer Greg lnsley and the technical crew of Misery are keeping the lid on some of the special effects that will be used dur- ing the show. Misery is adapted for the stage by Simon Moore and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Canada Inc. The term decent comes from the Latin 'docere', meaning to lecture; however. we do not wish our docems to merely lecture, but desire for them to take part in the many different facets of the gallery's exciting education program.
