The foundation would receive an annual per capita grant from the region and would also be empowered to undertake additional fundâ€"raising activities. â€" "Regional council has, over the years, supported arts, culture and heritage activities. This proposal will increase our capacity to support the arts, whether they be the visuâ€" al, the performing or the literary arts," said Seiling. The Arts Foundation proposal was enthusiastically supported by Sher DiCiccio of the Waterloo Community Arts Centre and Martin Degroot of the Waterloo Regional Arts Council, who appeared at council to endorse the recâ€" ommendations and offer their assistance. Council approves arts foundation "It will separate arts funding from heritage activities so there is no competition for funding between two worthy causes." The committee will be appointed by Chair Seiling and will also evaluate the feasibility of creating annual Waterloo Regional Arts Awards. The chair also received support for his proposal to establish an advisory committee to make recommendaâ€" tions to council prior to the final approval of the creation of the foundation.
