For all you energetic seniors who are raring to go after this long cold winter, get Senior Games coming ready for the annual regional Senior Games to be held in Cambridge, June 4. The founding games were organized in Kitchener/Waterloo in 1982. What began as a small recreâ€" ational activity for active older adults has since grown to a provincewide event, under the umbrella of the Ontario Senior Games Association founded shortly after. Waterloo/Wellington region is part of district #26. The games are held in a differâ€" ent town in each of the eight regions annually. RRERRREIIEIL {epuUy Last year the games were held in Guelph. This year Cambridge will be the host city, and organizers are going all out to make the event bigâ€" get and better than ever before. Anyone over the age of 55 and living in Waterloo or Wellington Counties is eligible to compete in the games, and about 900 participants tumed out last year to play 24 differâ€" ent sponts. Events are divided by age and gender to give as many people as possible the chance to compete. The organizing committee is looking at venues all across Cambridge and events on the program will include bowling, snooker, tennis, badminton, swimming, . golf, â€" cycling, bridge, euchre and even scrabble.
