Their inspiration came from Fabian‘s father Tony and his mother Linda, who has been battling multiple sclerosis for over 11 years. It usually strikes young adults, and its devastating effects remain for the rest of their lives. $50,000 each will go to two of the Society‘s chapters, which provide services at the local level (Brandon Chapter in Manitoba, where Fabian is originally from, and the Waterloo District Chapter). The remaining $63,500 will support a research project at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Short of finding a cure, which the Fabians say is the ultimate goal, they want to help the MS Society continâ€" ue to provide a positive "community" for people with MS. "We want to continue building community and quality of life for those living with multiple sclerosis," he said. The MS_ Society of Canada is the only national health agency in Canada that funds both MS research and services for people with MS and their families. Its head office is in Toronto, and it has seven regional divisions and more than 120 local chapters. Although some treatâ€" ments are available, there is still no way to prevent the disease and no cure. Justin and Kim and are somewhat overwhelmed by their generosity," she said. "It‘s wonderful to know their gift will have a positive impact on so many lives." The donation supports the MS Society‘s dual misâ€" sion of providing support services to people with MS and their families and fundâ€" ing research into a cause and cure for the disease.
